Dec 2025 - PCBA Update
🧩 PCBA Update
As shared in the last update, we were unable to burn our firmware and operating system onto the new PCBAs. The good news is that after some time, we were able to finally obtain the correct DA and authentication files from other sources, and we successfully installed our firmware. We’re back in the game.
You can see the image below for reference: (✔️ means installed. ❌ means install failed [last update]).

After installing the latest firmware, the Ukrainian team was able to resume PCBA and firmware testing. This is great news. We of course expected some issues since this chip was not the original chip we developed our firmware on, which we explained in our previous update. A few small issues appeared.
At the moment, our biggest blocker is that for some reason, the data over the USB is not working. This means that when we connect to the USB, nothing happens and it isn’t working. We aren’t sure if it is a hardware or firmware issue, but we are leaning towards firmware since we were able to install our firmware with the USB. USB matters for two reasons:
(A) We need to debug, fix, and push updates to the safe during testing.
(B) We must confirm charging behavior through the interior USB hub works. When the Chinese team designed the interior USB hubs, they messed it up. Data was passing through at an extremely slow rate, but the ports would not charge anything you plugged into the USB.
Currently, the system boots and runs, but without USB it is hard to test quickly and thoroughly. We will tackle one problem at a time until we are stable enough to move to the next stage.
Looking ahead, if we receive other MediaTek chips with the same base model and a different ending, we expect that a similar issues may appear. Therefore, we are also working on making our firmware handle the full family of chip variants within one build. Not critical to you, but good to know and something the team is currently working on.
As we said in our last email, we were confident we would find a solution and path forward by this update, and we did. We thank you all for your patience and support.
The software, the mobile app, and the system are all at a place we are really proud of, so we are looking forward to the next positive update.
Pitching
As we previously shared, we are continuing to explore new investment opportunities to sell part of the company and bring in fresh capital.
In October and November we completed several investor pitches. These conversations are still active, and we are doing everything we can to move them forward.
In addition to investor meetings, our founder was selected to take part in a few pitch contests. These were great opportunities to showcase The Space Safe and gain visibility.

While we have not secured an investor yet, the process is ongoing and we are staying persistent. If for some reason these conversations do not result in funding, one of the alternatives we are evaluating is launching a Wefunder crowdfunding campaign. This is simply a backup route we may explore, and our goal is to give ourselves every possible chance to get the product into everyone’s hands.
We request that you please hold back from sending individual messages about delivery dates and refunds. We will continue to provide full updates through our monthly updates, so please stay tuned. Your understanding and patience during this crappy time is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your unwavering support.
